In many senses, Local Government is where the 'rubber hits the road' for sustainability. It's the tier of government closest to the day-to-day lives of people. It can directly support and influence sustainability thinking in the community. For this reason, it's a sector that EcoSTEPS have been particularly supporting over the past few years.
